Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium is Australia's only stand-alone planetarium, owned and operated by Brisbane City Council and named after Sir Thomas Brisbane, Governor of New South Wales from 1821-1825. The building is a substantial structure, formed from reinforced concrete and designed with curving walls that echo the rounded nature of its main feature, the cosmic skydome.
