Speaker Series

We gathered together influential architects, landscape architects, designers, planners and professionals in conversation to explore the important ideas that shape our city. Through a series of talks, hosted in the lead up to the Brisbane Open House weekend, representatives from these key professions explored, with audiences, the ideas and opportunities that influence the shape and experience of our city and its buildings.

Without a House: Homelessness in Brisbane

About the Event:

On any given night in Brisbane around 300 people sleep in parks, under bridges, in laneways, car parks and abandoned buildings. Join Museum of Brisbane and 612ABC Brisbane for this speaker series event discussing the perception and treatment of homelessness in Brisbane.

Special guests included Brisbane photographer David Kelly and award-winning journalist and filmmaker Trent Dalton, creators of Love Stories, a film which explores true, tragic and beautiful love stories told by members of Brisbane’s homeless community. Guests also included Claire Marchesi board member of Orange Sky Laundry, a not-for-profit organisation providing a platform to positively impact perceptions of homelessness through a free mobile laundry service for homeless communities across Australia. This event formed part of the public programs for the Museum of Brisbane's groundbreaking exhibition 100% Brisbane.
