With the Brisbane CBD skyline in the background and only 11km away, Archerfield Airport is rich in history and is an integral aviation hub for training, corporate aircraft, aircraft maintenance, charter, aeromedical and emergency services with approximately 120 000 aircraft movements. Established in the early 1930s the airport was Brisbane’s aviation lifeblood, serving as the city’s primary and international airport to 1949.
Archerfield Airport is home to one of the world’s oldest flying schools still operating - The Royal Queensland Aero Club which celebrates pioneering members such as Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith, Bert Hinkler and Lores Bonney. Explore Archerfield’s rich history by visiting the Art Deco terminal, the historic hangars and Gods Acre cemetery.
Archerfield Airport was privatised in 1998, with the Bird family owning, operating and developing the airport since then. This revitalised airport is fast becoming one of the leading metropolitan airports in Australia.
