Brisbane Open House

The Board of Brisbane Open House today announced the appointment of Ann McLean as its new Executive Director. Ms McLean comes to Brisbane Open House with a deep connection to Brisbane’s creative communities, and a passion for creating enriching arts experiences.

“We are very excited to welcome Ann to Brisbane Open House,” said Brisbane Open House Board Chair, Malcolm Middleton OAM. “She is a dynamic individual with extensive experience as a forward-thinking leader. The BOH Board members and I look forward to working with Ms McLean as she and the team collaborate with our partners.”

Ms McLean said “It’s an exciting time to join the organisation. BOH celebrates Brisbane’s cultural landscape while emphasising the multidisciplinary nature of design today and inviting reflection on the ideas that shape our time. As we grow the team and deliver the program BOH will create inclusive experiences and opportunities for visitors to activate their own creative potential by connecting with beautifully made places, nature, and other people.”

“As a producer and manager, I’ve seen firsthand that engagement through exploration, discussion and sensing the creativity of artists, designers and craftspeople, can change lives for the better. It helps us see ourselves and our world in new ways. I’m excited to join BOH and to help it partner with its supporters, engaging with the people who give so much positive energy to BOH across the region. I have lots of great ideas to strengthen the connections between audiences with each other as well as creatives and custodians.”

Ms McLean’s experience extends across the performing arts, literature and design. She has previously managed Brisbane Writers Festival, dance organisations BlakDance and Ausdance Queensland, and local music ensemble Topology. Ann has also held corporate communications and funding development roles at Queensland University of Technology. In 2015, she established a successful business as a not for profit development strategy specialist.

Ms McLean encourages suggestions for this year’s program, or partnership proposals. Please get in touch.
