GrainCorp Fisherman started construction in 1983 with construction being completed in 1986.
GrainCorp’s Pinkenba facility being the primary site at the time, GrainCorp Fisherman Island was built with state of the art technology to then Supersede GrainCorp Pinkenba. GrainCorp Fisherman Island was officially opened the 14th of April 1986 with an additional 30,000 tonne shed being completed in 1999.
Of note:
- The site has a approx. footprint of 8 hectares and has a storage capacity of 112,700mt.
- GrainCorp Fisherman Islands exports wheat, barley, sorghum, legumes, oilseeds, cottonseed, mineral sands, sugar and woodchips, with average yearly container export of 8000TEU and 700,000mt of bulk export.
- The 40 metre high silos offer incredible views of Fisherman Island and Morton bay.
