This house has been an ongoing restoration and renovation of an 1895 worker’s cottage initially used to house workers from the horse stables associated with Brisbane’s early tram network.
The house was completed dilapidated when purchased by Lachlan & Tanya Nielsen in 2010, and has undergone a series of renovations which have allowed it to accommodate a growing family, home studio and design workshop at different times. The house has become a testing ground for many of the central ideas of the NIELSEN JENKINS practice; including landscape, deletion, connections and materiality.
