Queensland Theatre is thrilled to open the doors of our city’s newest theatre — the Bille Brown Theatre — and to begin celebrating our 50th Anniversary.

The Bille Brown Theatre is Brisbane’s only corner stage, a configuration designed to enhance today’s contemporary theatre experience. The 351-person seating bank is a mere 10 rows deep, ensuring audiences experience a direct connection with actors at all times during a performance.

Come and walk through the state-of-the-art theatre, stand centre stage and marvel at the tension net suspended above you. You can also witness the next generation of Brisbane actors when Queensland Theatre’s Young Artists take to the Bille Brown Theatre stage for a free performance at 12:00pm.

Take time to explore the theatre’s refurbished social spaces which include the Foyer and Patron’s Deck. Sit underneath Besse the Bottle Tree (gifted all the way from Quilpie in 2002) in our lush courtyard while you wait for a tour of the large workshop facility and wardrobe department.

As part of Queensland Theatre’s 50th Anniversary celebrations we will be gathering stories from artists and audiences about their relationships with the Company and their ideas for our future. Come and take part in these recordings on the day, and keep an eye out for your contribution as they are shared publicly throughout 2020.
