Nature meets nurture where The University of Queensland is reinventing the delivery of student support services on campus.
UQ Student Central extends a warm welcome to students and helps dismantle the physical barriers to seeking help. The design places the holistic student experience at its core by bringing together administration, employability and wellbeing support.
Led by a team of architects, interior designers, and landscape architects, Hassell connected three University of Queensland buildings — the Prentice Building, Physics Annexe and the former Staff House — and added an extensive shade canopy, forecourt, and sub-tropical landscape.
The sandstone terraces invite passing students to pause and connect with a seamless transition from lush greenery, to an interior wrapped in timber, terrazzo, and finger-mosaic tiles.
Complete with features such as communal lounge seating and ping pong tables, UQ Student Central is a place for students to unwind, and access key support services.
