2019 sees Brisbane Open House celebrate 10 years of meaningful community engagement through the exploration of architecture, heritage and design.

To celebrate this occasion BOH will host the annual Open House Worldwide Lecture – the lecture will showcase Brisbane as part of a unique and growing international network.

BOH is delighted to announce Charu Kokate, Principal and Director of Safdie Architects, Singapore will deliver the inaugural BOH International Lecture.

Safdie Architects has created some of Singapore’s most inspiring and iconic architectural wonders. They imbue every project with a spirit of idealism and innovation, and around the world their projects have won countless awards and have in many cases, have become regional and national landmarks.

Nowhere is that more evident than the iconic Marina Bay Sands and the breathtaking Jewel Changi Airport – working alongside Moshe Safdie, Charu Kokate is at the helm of these projects and turns these astonishing concepts into reality.

Charu Kokate will share her experiences of creating these incredible icons and working within the Singapore context.  How does the Singapore Government’s strict planning regulations allow for and inspire such creativity? What kind of magic must it take to design and construct these incredible beauties without sacrificing environmental considerations? How does one person wrangle the team, stakeholders, budget and resources to bring these complex projects to completion?

You are invited to this signature event which encourages greater public participation in architecture, urban design and planning. The event will inspire the BOH community to explore new thinking, global trends and encourage the sharing of ideas and insights, and debate with a wider audience.

BOH is proud to present this event in partnership with La Boite.
