“Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you anywhere.” Albert Einstein

Design has always been the forerunner of change – from the Bauhaus movement and classical architecture to the Renaissance it has the ability to change how we perceive the world around us. Now it might be our only hope to solve our greatest issues.

Climate change, refugees and pollution seem to be defeating governments, global agencies and other organisations that are supposed to find solutions. Is it possible that good design could address – and solve these issues?

Or should we step aside and let policy makers and powerbrokers fix things? For better or worse, architects and design thinkers might be our only hope.

Is there a design solution for the cause of the global discontent that produces a situation like Brexit? Perhaps massive refugee camps are actually new cities – rather than a temporary stopping place. Good design might our only chance against climate change.

Are these the kinds of problems that we should be turning to designers to seek solutions …. or, has design caused these issues?

In this light hearted, old school debate, six leading architects, designers, planners and business leaders will pitch their arguments – for and against this controversial topic.

Presented by BOH in partnership with La Boite.
