Learn about the artistic development of the laneway with Prue McComish, from Aria Property Group, who has a wealth of knowledge of the entire laneway. On this tour you will also have an exclusive tour of Aria’s Upper House.

Dramatic architectural features inspired by Queensland’s Moreton Bay fig tree create an evocative design statement incorporating dancing balconies, architectural ribbons and Australia’s first double-storey rooftop club.

About Lisa Sorbie Martin

Lisa Sorbie Martin is a First Nations Artist, Designer, Curator, Consultant and Cultural Educator.

Sorbie or Lisa known by most, is of Torres Strait Island descent from Mua and Murray Islands. She was named after her Grandmother ‘Sorbie’ who in turn was named after the Sorbie fruit which is a ‘Wild Water Cherry’ or ‘Bell Fruit’ that grows on the beautiful islands where her families originate from.

Lisa and her family live on Country with the ‘People of the Yugambeh Language Region’. Her art making is predominately in visual art, textile design, wearable art, ceramics, and public art. She is a creative innovator weaving culture and art together to produce and tell stories in any community that is site-specific and thought provoking, connecting with both indigenous and non-indigenous story, meaning and/or environment is certainly her signature and strength leaving a legacy of history and culture to enhance, enrich and educate its observer.

Sorbie’s passion and inspiration comes from her family, faith, culture, and the world we live in.
