Made in Brisbane

Made in Brisbane celebrates manufacturing and craft industries in Brisbane, showcasing both legacy manufacturers as well as new up-and-coming makers that are creating boutique products, reflecting the changing nature of design and manufacturing in our city. The Made in Brisbane talks are held over the Brisbane Open House weekend. Made in Brisbane gave visitors the chance to meet the makers, explore their buildings and understand the process of production.

About the Event:

Located in the leafy suburb of Balmoral, the Little Building Co aspires to take over the world!

After studying engineering, then three-dimensional design at college, Marcus Bree began an international career that would take him from Japan to Hong Kong to the USA, across Australia and finally to Brisbane, where he now runs his own design company. Creating little houses seemed like a natural extension to his love of making things, mixing textures and materials.

Marcus’ highly detailed range of architectural model kits covers the development of Australian vernacular architecture from the miner’s cottage to the ornate terraces of Richmond. The architect models currently include the work of Frank Lloyd Wright and Jorn Utzon.

Spend a couple of informal hours talking about design (not specifically architecture) in Marcus’ studio space where he will show you his design and manufacturing processes and what can be achieved in a tiny space. Plus, try your hand at assembling one of the models! Visit

Free event.
