A Place of Community | Brisbane Powerhouse | Punters, Performers | People of all persuasions
Exhibition 24 – 29 June
Brisbane Powerhouse / Fairfax Studio
The Brisbane Powerhouse once a power station serving the city was reimagined and invested with new life 25 years ago to become a community hub for the arts.
Poised on the tip of New Farm peninsula the Brisbane Powerhouse most essentially is a building of enduring physical presence. It is a place that welcomes and supports all of Brisbane’s diverse communities. It is a place where all those people can feel comfortable.
A place supporting their varying identities and standing as backdrop and vessel to fulfil all their many needs and requirements. A place revealing and honouring its history while serving the present and offering opportunity for the future.
This exhibition celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Powerhouse presents visual works by architects and artists reflecting on the Powerhouse as a Place of Community. Building as physical artefact tuned to serve the Arts and Broader Brisbane communities.
