Morven House on the hills of Shorncliffe, has been an alma mater by the sea for St Patrick’s College students since 1952 when Fr O’Rourke, Parish Priest of Sandgate purchased Morven and began the process of refurbishing the derelict building.

It was originally built for John McConnel and his family as a seaside home in 1864. It was purchased by David Brown in 1880 and renamed as Morven House. Since then it has been a Governor of Queensland’s residence, a family home for the Blumes and the Cravens, a Sunday School and known for many years as a haunted house.
