Come on a historical journey of the Brisbane River
Kurilpa Futures is a volunteer community group from West End, working closely with Queensland Ballet under the banner of the Montague Road Project. They advocate under the motto of “Planning for People” to ensure the growth on the peninsular is focused on liveability. This has led to many improvements including the street furniture on Boundary St and additional trees on Vulture St between Hardgrave and Boundary.
Kurlipa Futures is a passionate group of locals, with infinite knowledge about the Kurilpa Peninsula. Be sure to join this historic walk to find out the hidden stories of the suburb, among them the many layers of Orleigh Park from First Nations hunting ground to today’s riverside recreation park.
Walk 2 – Staring and finishing at the Thomas Dixon Centre
Meet a friendly Kurilpa Futures member (wearing a green shirt branded with an orange logo) at the main entry to the Thomas Dixon Centre, for the tour starting at 1.30pm. You will stroll through West End for approximately 60 minutes and finish at the Thomas Dixon Centre around 2.30 pm.
