Port of Brisbane is Queensland’s premier multi-cargo port and a key economic gateway driving the state’s trade growth.
Every year, approximately $55 billion in international trade is handled through the Port including 95% of Queensland’s international container trade and approximately 50% of the state’s agricultural exports.
The Port’s ~1,870-hectare footprint comprises 8,200 metres of quay line, 30 operating berths, 693 hectares of environmental buffer and a 224ha Future Port Expansion zone with approximately 2,500 vessel calls annually. Port of Brisbane is managed and developed by Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd (PBPL) under a 99-year lease from the Queensland Government.
The Port Office was the first building in Australia to receive a 5-Star Green-Star Office As Built v3 certification from the Green Building Council of Australia. The building is an example of PBPL’s commitment to sustainable development at the Port.
The Port Office building reflects features of its local environment. The shape of the building resembles a cruise ship, with a bow wave carved into the adjacent lawn. In addition, level two meeting rooms are suspended in space in a similar manner to shipping containers being loaded onto a vessel.
