The Queensland Police Museum (QPM) is located on the Ground Floor of Queensland Police Headquarters.
The QPM is dedicated to collecting, documenting, preserving and exhibiting the history of policing and the policed. The exhibition space incorporates 25 displays illustrating a range of policing themes. The QPM uses its archival resources, exhibitions and public programs to share stories of policing of today and of yesterday. Visit us and sit on the police motorcycle for a photograph opportunity or experience our Augmented Reality Crime Scene.
2026 marks the 133rd birthday of the QPM; 100 years of Police motorcycles and the 162st anniversary of the Queensland Police.
When completed in 1989 the QPS Headquarters building was considered to have one of the largest footprints in the city. The building design was said to give a friendly countenance with generous window openings along with a sense of place; trees at street level, colours, sun shading devices and a parasol roof, to reflect a distinct Queensland Character. The design was unashamedly modern and addressed the need for controlled access and security monitoring of people and vehicles with state-of-the-art security.
