Windmill Tower and Service Reservoirs: 226 Wickham Terrace, Spring Hill
Saturday : 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
General access (self guided) // Scheduled history talks (bookings not required)

Step back in time on Wickham Terrace, one of the city’s earliest streets, experiencing a snapshot of Brisbane’s history at Observatory Park. Get exclusive access into two key sites in Brisbane’s history: the Windmill Tower and Spring Hill Service Reservoirs. No bookings required!

The landmark Windmill Tower is Brisbane’s oldest surviving convict-built structure, built in 1828 to grind grain for the Moreton Bay Penal Settlement.

Tucked behind the Windmill Tower are the Spring Hill Service Reservoirs – majestic underground chambers that once held Brisbane’s earliest water supply, all the way from the Enoggera Reservoir.

Step back in time with free historical talks on the history of Spring Hill, featuring five separate heritage places within eyeshot of this spot, spanning the earliest convict period through to the 1970s, and into today.

The Windmill Tower and Service Reservoir are open to the public from 9am to 4pm on Saturday – no bookings required.
