ANZAC Square in Brisbane City, is Queensland’s heritage listed, preeminent memorial to our state’s men and women who served in conflict and peacekeeping from the Boer War to present.
Originally built in 1930 to commemorate the WWI, the Square has since become home to memorials for other conflicts. In 2019, in celebration of the ANZAC centenary (100 years since our involvement in the First World War) the Square underwent a sympathetic restoration to conserve, declutter and enhance the Square.
Join Tract, the Landscape Architects involved in this restoration, as they share how the Square balances the preservation of history, stories and memories, whilst simultaneously functioning as an urban thoroughfare and civic open space in modern society.
