2025 Brisbane Open House
19/07/25
9.45am - 12:00pm

Participants set sail on a unique architectural journey along the Brisbane River with Bureau Proberts’ Brisbane River Residential Architecture Tour. This special experience invited them to see the city from a new perspective—one shaped by thoughtful design, urban evolution and the power of place.

As they sailed past the ever-changing skyline, participants discovered how Brisbane is moving beyond its suburban past. With more people choosing high-quality, architect-designed apartments, the riverfront is becoming a canvas for contemporary living. The tour highlighted how architecture is not only changing the way people live, but also helping to define Brisbane’s identity in the 21st century.

Guided by Bureau Proberts Creative Director Liam Proberts and special guests, attendees explored some of the city’s most compelling residential developments—from transformed woolstores to sculptural high-rises—all while cruising along the iconic river that connects them.

The Tour

The tour began at 9:45am at 30 Love Street, Bulimba, where participants explored Canvas, an elegant residential project that sets the tone for the morning. From there, the group boarded a chartered ferry at Bulimba at 10:30am and cruised towards South Bank, passing a curated selection of standout projects that reflect Brisbane’s residential transformation, including iconic redevelopments such as Dakota, Ansonia and Saratoga—formerly woolstores and now beautifully reimagined apartments.

Other buildings of note included the Catalina Houses, Vaucluse and The Oxlade in New Farm, each offering a unique perspective on modern apartment living.

As the ferry crossed to Kangaroo Point, participants viewed striking riverfront developments including Silt, Walan, Thornton and Brisbane One Towers, before concluding with Galleria and the Mantra Hotel South Bank Road (previously Saville South Bank Apartments). Throughout the tour, special guests provided commentary on the evolving Brisbane River landscape and the role of architecture in shaping its future.

The cruise concluded at South Bank, where participants continued their Brisbane Open House experiences.
