Nestled in the breathtaking coastal landscape of North Stradbroke Island, the newly completed residence at Billa St is a seamless blend of architecture and environment. Designed by Conrad Gargett and crafted with precision by KOA Constructions, the home is a testament to refined coastal living—where simplicity, functionality, and a deep connection to nature define every detail.
Positioned to capture panoramic ocean views and prevailing sea breezes, the home embraces its natural surroundings with a thoughtful interplay of materials and space. Expansive openings and carefully curated outdoor areas dissolve the boundary between indoors and out, allowing the shifting coastal light to animate the interiors throughout the day. The design prioritises sustainability, integrating passive cooling strategies, locally sourced materials, and a palette that echoes the island’s raw beauty.
Inside, the home balances warmth and minimalism, with a focus on natural timber, stone, and soft, muted tones that complement the landscape. Every element has been carefully considered to enhance the lived experience—whether it’s the gentle rhythm of ocean waves or the ever-changing hues of the surrounding bushland.
While the residence has not yet been submitted for awards, we are allowing time for the landscape to establish, further enhancing the seamless integration of architecture and site. This home is more than a structure; it is an invitation to experience Stradbroke Island’s unspoiled beauty in its purest form.
