The art and architecture of ancient Egypt have left an indelible mark on the world, influencing everything from the grandeur of The Luxor in Las Vegas to the sleek lines of Art Deco design. Even the American dollar bill and Sydney’s Obelisk pay homage to Egypt’s enduring legacy.

In this talk, delivered by Dr Serena Love, the fascinating world of ancient Egyptian architecture was explored alongside a discussion on pyramid design and temple orientation, colours symbolism, and the timeless meaning encoded into ancient Egyptian iconography.

This presentation celebrated the Queensland Museum’s exhibition Discovering Ancient Egypt.
