Joanne Heath
Photographer

Joanne was born in Port Macquarie. Now resides and practices art in Brisbane. An extensive nursing career preceded Joanne’s art and photographic practice. She has had two solo photographic exhibitions, and a joint one Brisbane and Beyond with Virginia Russel when Brisbane Bricks was launched in June 1919 at Petrie Terrace Gallery. She is a member and fellow of the Royal Queensland Art Society and exhibits regularly.

Virginia Russell
Architect & Photographer

Virginia was born in New Zealand and studied at the University of Auckland. For many years she practised as an architect in Auckland, Sydney and Brisbane. Moving from Sydney to Brisbane in 2006 Virginia was impressed by Brisbane’s vibrant brick heritage. She began collecting photographs of interesting buildings and these images became the genesis of the book Brisbane Bricks, which was produced in collaboration with Joanne Heath. Virginia has five children and numerous grandchildren. Since retiring she has been a keen volunteer, including at Brisbane Open House, and has published two books.
