Echoes of Brisbane explores the difficulty of capturing a place once visited, after memory and imagination have filtered experience into something dreamlike. Initiated in 2006 using traditional black-and-white film and a disused camera from an architectural practice, the series captured echoes of Brisbane’s urban landscape frozen in time. Revisiting the work in 2026, artist Pia Robinson has transformed these photographs into moving images, sitting between photography and cinema, fusing analogue methods with digital processes to reanimate a city from a decade ago. Pia Robinson is a multi-disciplinary artist living in South East Queensland.
The development of this exhibition has been supported by a Regional Arts Development Fund Grant. The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and City of Moreton Bay to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
