Build big ideas from small pieces.
Tiny Builders, Big Ideas is a hands-on workshop where kids transform real construction offcuts into imaginative mini homes and spaces. Using timber, cardboard and salvaged materials, they’ll design, build and experiment — learning how building smaller and reusing materials can reduce waste. Creative, tactile and a little bit messy — in the best way!
Children will work with a curated palette of clean, lightweight materials sourced from real building sites to design and construct their own small-scale structures. The session introduces the idea that smaller, smarter spaces can reduce waste, encouraging creative problem-solving through making. Guided but open-ended, it balances play with simple architectural thinking — structure, shelter and form.
Each child’s final piece will be photographed before being taken home.
Building materials include:
- Untreated timber offcuts (pine, small sections — no nails or screws)
- Plywood, MDF and Masonite scraps
- Cardboard sheets, boxes and tubes
- PVC pipe or conduit offcuts
- Plastic spacers, packers, clips and small bucket lids
- Foam board and other lightweight, non-toxic materials
