December 5, 2022, is International Volunteer Recognition Day

International Volunteer Day is a day to raise awareness of the important role volunteers play in supporting community groups, NFP’s and organisations. The contributions volunteers make to communities in Australia, and the world, are enormous.

In fact, if it wasn’t for the assistance, generosity, enthusiasm and energy of our wonderful volunteers, Brisbane Open House would not be able to be delivered year after year.

Brisbane Open House wants to acknowledge, thank and shine a light on the important work of our volunteers. Our dedicated vollies help to welcome visitors, manage crowds and queues, provide advice and directions and count visitor numbers, and so much more.

In previous years we have seen an average of over 300 volunteers help us to manage visits to 100+ Brisbane buildings.

After a two-year Covid-hiatus, this year we featured a smaller amount of buildings in our program. We also introduced our inaugural VOB (Villages of Brisbane event). Just under 200 vollies supported us over these two events.

We are now building out a full calendar of events and look forward to providing our valued vollies with many opportunities throughout the year to participate and support us.

Volunteer Gratitude Program

In appreciation and recognition of our amazing volunteer team and their efforts in making Brisbane Open House happen, we presented our long-term volunteers with special commemorative pins at the 2022 thank you celebration.

We look forward to continuing to develop our program, and, as we grow our events throughout the year, there will be many more opportunities for volunteers to get involved in 2023!

THANK YOU TO ALL OUR PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE VOLLIES!

2022 vollies tell us why they enjoy volunteering for Brisbane Open House…
With thanks to Paul & Tash from DCR Media Productions.
