Start: 205 North Quay, Brisbane
Finish: Fish Lane, South Brisbane

In the lead up to the 2026 Australian Institute of Architects National Conference this year in October, join this guided walking tour exploring the evolving relationship between architecture, public art and city-making from North Bank to South Bank. Beginning at North Quay, the tour takes in contemporary subtropical workplace design, the civic experience of crossing the Kurilpa Bridge, and the cultural landscape of GOMA, Queensland Museum and QPAC’s Glasshouse Theatre.

Along the way, participants will consider how buildings, bridges, galleries, public art and performance spaces shape Brisbane’s identity as a river city. The walk concludes in Fish Lane, where laneway culture, hospitality, public art and adaptive reuse create one of Brisbane’s most vibrant urban precincts. This 90-minute tour offers a lively introduction to the connections between design quality, cultural life and public realm.
