Start: Highgate Hill Orchard, Hampstead Rd
(Bottom of Highgate Park near no 82 Hampstead Rd)
In 2015, a group of local landscape architects developed the Green Space Strategy for the Kurilpa Peninsula in response to community concerns that existing greenspace would not meet the demands of rapid densification. This walk explores the ideas behind the strategy, showcases what has been implemented and looks at what is still to come.
The walk will be hosted by John Mongard and Maeve Cunnington. John is a local landscape architect with 30 years of experience helping community groups. John donates one day a week to helping Kurilpa community groups and their greening projects. Maeve is an active member of the Kurilpa Futures Community Greening group, and has been involved in some of the Greening Projects in this walking tour.
