Kurilpa has always been a place that people of all nations have walked and lived upon. The green edge that has survived is constantly in flux. This walk explores the evolution of the river edge and how First Nations culture, climate, citizen action, politics and development have shaped it, and may yet shape it again.

Meet your Guides
Tim Quinn & Steve Capelin. Tim is a long-time resident of the Kurilpa Peninsula, an active member of Kurilpa Futures, and a part-time history enthusiast. A former Lord Mayor of Brisbane, he remains deeply passionate about both his community and the city. Tim played a key role in establishing the historical plaques along Boundary Street and co-authored the four-book series A Street Walker’s Guide to West End, leading many walking tours based on its stories.
Steve is passionate about leadership, community and local and family history. With Tim in 2012, they co-authored the self-guided Street Walkers Guides to West End. He was a founding member of the innovative arts organisation Street Arts Community Theatre Company, taught at QUT and spent 15 years working for the Brisbane city Council as an arts officer and Leader of the Council’s City-wide youth program.
